Owner operated since 1983 by Pat and Helaine Borge, Makena Stables offers much more than "just a trail ride ". We offer a unique riding opportunity for you to saddle up and ride with the owner of the Stables, a Maui born Paniolo (cowboy) whose knowledge & aloha for the aina (land) and his horses shines through on each tour. This is the "real thing". We have exceptional quality horses, many raised and trained by us. And because we really love what we do, this shows in the care of the horses and in the quality of your experience. We match each person to their horse by ability and offer help and lessons as needed to each rider, sharing our insight into the animals that you will be getting to know.
Our groups are small to keep things friendly and interesting for everyone. All of our rides are on Ulupalakua Ranch, 20,000 acres of some of the most beautiful wild land on Maui, overlooking the Ahihi Kinau Natural Area Reserve, La Perouse Bay and offering spectacular views of the most recent lava flow and outer islands. Enjoy quick glimpses of Axis deer and other wildlife. During the winter months we get great views of the whales and dolphins below in La Perouse Bay. Bring your camera for some great shots.Guided groups of maximum six persons, western style riding. Children 13 years/ 5ft. are welcome when accompanied by an adult.All rides are physically strenuous, our trails are rugged and technically challenging and we strongly recommend that all riders be in good physical condition. Weight limit is 205lbs. Minimum height for riders over 200 lbs. is 5’11”.

Macashowen Arabians is a North American Riding for the Handicapped Operating Center. We provide therapeutic riding for individuals with special needs and offer a full range of traditional training programs and services.Therapeutic riding uses equine-oriented activities for the purpose of contributing positively to the well-being of people with disabilities. Therapeutic riding provided benefits in the areas of therapy, education, sport, and recreation & leisure. Our goal at Macashowen Arabians is to provide our students with the safest, most enjoyable equine education possible. To ensure this, we require all instructors to be instructor certified and trained in CPR and First Aid. Volunteers must be trained in CPR and First Aid as well. We at Macashowen Arabians take pride in the cleanliness, organization, and professionalism of our facility. We strive to provide each individual with an environment and services commensurate with his or her needs.

HAWAIIAN ARABIAN ACRES
HAWAIIAN ARABIAN ACRES offers a variety of services. Established 23 years ago as a breeding and training facility. with the importation of two mares from Santa Inez. California. Hknez Dialyte and her half sister Hknez Rafsera. Both are Serabask daughters, with Serafix"as the maternal grandsire. In 1983 both were bred to the Pure Polish stallion Nazional a *Cytrys son imported from Patterson Arabians. A colt named Baskalava was born to Dialyte and a filly named Nazmirage to Rafsera. We later sent Nazmirage to Carlsbad by the Sea to market. Baskalava has stayed an Island boy and is a handsome dark bay gelding who competes here locally in dressage/English events. In 1984 We imported the stallion Tyrone JDW . Genetically bred by Dr. Gerald White to produce"Classic Arabian type" and substance. He possesses a very charismatic appeal. The cross has produced many beautiful foals. Over the years we have had much demand for teaching youth individuals how to ride properly, care for the horse, and most important how to be safe. We offer a full spectrum horse management program. This is designed to educate those who are preparing to buy a horse. All Students receive hourly instruction weekly on a scheduled basis. This program incorporates the care and feeding/nutition/ grooming/tacking/ care of tack, routine medical care/de-worming/vaccination program/ and hoof care/farrier treatments.

Ironwood Ranch Riding Stables
Ironwood Ranch specializes in small, personalized groups (6 per trail guide or as arranged). Private rides are also available upon request.
