Camelot Farms, LLC
Enjoy the beauty of the Low Country with a horse back ride! Camelot farms offers two different rides for the beginner to the more advanced rider. Our rides are walking only.
Each ride begins in the ring with a mini lesson and safety instruction. Each rider is evaluated as to the match of the horse and rider and equipment is checked. We continue to give instruction during each ride to make your ride as enjoyable and safe as possible.
Our Plantation ride wanders through out our 60 acre farm, down roads and paths past beautiful old live oak trees and island palms. Depending on the time of the year and the weather conditions, this ride takes you on the edge of the marshlands with its wide expanse full of wild life. Our Plantation ride is an hour long including the mini lesson.
For those with a bit more experience with horses and more time to spend with us we offer a coastline ride to Saint Helena Sound. This is a fun trip for our horses and our guest, as coast offers a new look with each tide change. We also pass an original Plantation house and beautiful moss draped trees.

Your lesson will include the basics of horsemanship. Our emphasis is on safety and fun! In the saddle you will learn the fundamentals of the balanced seat including proper leg position and how to use your seat and hands effectively and independently. You will learn proper warm up techniques and will be given exercises to do that will strengthen your position and improve balance. You will not only learn how to apply the correct aids but also why they work. Students will learn to halter, lead, groom, tack and untack their horses. You will learn many aspects of caring for your horse and tack as well as horse behavior and how to communicate with this large prey animal. Once a student has developed an independent seat and can confidently handle their horse they may move on to learn dressage, jumping, showing, horse training, barrels, etc. Ask questions! There are no stupid questions! We believe learning is best achieved in a positive and relaxed setting where students feel safe and welcome. We are all here to learn and have FUN!

Pinewood Riding Center
Here at Pinewood Riding Center we follow the time honored great British tradition; the teachings of the British Horse Society, the development of a correct, balanced, independent seat, with its roots firmly grounded in Dressage. Our emphasis is on teaching correct equitation, communication through the aids and firm basics. We use many school figures and equitation exercises to build skills and improve understanding; we avoid spending all of our time on the rail. Our students are able to compete in many disciplines as a result of our attention to the basics; dressage, hunters, jumpers, combined events and are secure enough to ride to hounds and over cross country fences.
We believe in positive reinforcement and constructive criticism for the best learning environment for our students, we do not believe in screaming at and demeaning our students which is usually a recipe for accomplishing much of nothing. Riders from age 6 and up are welcome; our current age range is 6-72 years. All beginning riders usually start their first lessons on the lungeline for safety and confidence.
